The Daxia Fortress was a large fortress located on the end of the island of Daxia. It was the main base of operations for the Order of Mata Nui, and from where Toa Helryx commanded them.
History
Daxia was first discovered by the Hand of Artahka more than 100,000 years ago. Although the island seemed uninhabitable at first, Helryx realized that there were many natural wonders on the island, and established a base. The fortress was constructed, and the Order of Mata Nui was formed.
After the Toa Mata were created, they were transported to Daxia, and awoken inside a specialized chamber within the fortress. After being introduced to each other by Helryx, the Toa exited the chamber, and were trained in the use of their mask powers and Elemental Powers.
100,000 years later, the Toa Mata (having since transformed into the more powerful Toa Nuva) were transported back to Daxia, where they used the Staff of Artakha to restore the damage done to the universe.
After the Pit was destroyed, the Order was forced to construct their own jail within the fortress, where it housed several notorious criminals until the Pit was fixed.
After Makuta Teridax took control of Mata Nui's body, he destroyed the island of Daxia, taking out the fortress and many Order members with it.
Significant Locations
There were a myriad of locations and chambers inside the fortress, including a central well of energy, an armory, a vehicle center, and an equipment warehouse. The fortress was also equipped with technology powerful enough to bring the entire island down.
Helryx's Chamber
Helryx constructed herself a chamber, where she directed the Order from. The chamber was heavily protected, and lay in a corridor which itself had numerous traps. However, there was a secret escape tunnel located in the wall.
Power Cradle Chamber
The Power Cradle Chamber was a vast, spherical chamber where the Staff of Artakha was meant to be used. The chamber had a device that augments the power of the Staff to spread it throughout the Matoran Universe. The chamber was utilized to undo the effects of the Great Cataclysm.
Library
The fortress contained a library, which held a multitude of tablets and information located within it. The library was known to contain a copy of Norik's compendium of various Rahi.
