Deep into Darkness is the second comic. This comic features Gali and Lewa, two Toa Mata.
Synopsis
The comic begins with the Turaga recounting the The Legend of Mata Nui. Elsewhere, Lewa saves Gali from a pond, and asks Gali what she thinks about the other Toa. Gali replies that she regrets the Toa were not working together, a point which Lewa refuses to acknowledge and departs to continue his search for more Kanohi masks.
With Lewa gone, Gali returns to swimming in the sea when a Tarakava attacks her. The Toa of Water lures it into a sea cave and blocks the entrance, sealing the Rahi inside.
Meanwhile, Lewa returns to Le-Koro, where Turaga Matau informs him of the Kanohi Kakama, which is located underwater. Lewa then leaves for a cavern that leads to the sea, only to find the cavern's entrance was blocked by a Nui-Jaga. Lewa used his Air powers to bury the Rahi in vines and other vegetation, and enters the cavern and to the sea. As he was searching for the mask, Lewa was almost drowned by a plant, which was controlled by the Makuta. He uses his axe to free himself, goes back up for some air, then resumed his task and eventually succeeding in finding the Kakama.
At the same time, Gali scales a mountain to find the Miru, Mask of Levitation. Just as she reached out for the mask, Makuta made the mountain crumble. However, Gali managed to get the mask and levitate to safety, but finds herself between two Nui-Jaga and two Tarakava upon landing.
Meanwhile, Lewa is caught off-guard by a Nui-Rama, who knocks Lewa's mask off into the air. He was then attacked by a Muaka.
