Birth of the Rahaga is the twenty-fifth comic and the tenth in the BIONICLE Metru Nui series. It is a flashback chronicling the Toa Hagah's transformation into Rahaga.

Plot Summary

Nuju, Kualus, Whenua, and Bomonga are half-buried under rubble when the comatose Kualus begins to dream of what happened long before the Great Cataclysm that devastated Metru Nui, and the reason the Rahaga remain on the island.

Many years before Teridax posed as Turaga Dume, Toa Hagah Norik and Iruini are fighting against the Visorak. The Brotherhood of Makuta had stolen the Kanohi Avohkii, Mask of Light from its creators, and now Norik and Iruini have it in hand and are determined to keep it safe from the Brotherhood. These Toa Hagah had previously been assigned to work for the Brotherhood, but the Toa discovered that the Makuta were corrupt. The two soon learned that their fellow Toa Hagah have been captured by the Brotherhood, and now Norik and Iruini must fight Visorak, Exo-Toa, and Dark Hunters to rescue their fellow Toa.

Just outside the gate of a Brotherhood of Makuta Fortress, Norik and Iruini fight their way through many Visorak. Suddenly, Krekka attacks the two Toa, and Iruini uses his Cyclone Spear to launch the Dark Hunter over his head. Krekka manages to get behind Iruini and grab him. Iruini then flips over Krekka and kicks him to the ground, while Norik threatens to destroy a Vohtarak if it won't show the Toa a safe way out. The Vohtarak agrees and they follow it.

Much later, after following the Visorak for quite some time, Iruini questions why they need to retrieve the Mask of Light. Norik explained how they discovered the Brotherhood's secret. Suddenly Nidhiki walks by with two Vohtarak, commenting about four captured Toa. Norik and Iruini bind their Visorak guide and decide to trail the Dark Hunter. Iruini states that, as he had said earlier, he will leave the team, after rescuing the others.

Iruini sneaks into the Brotherhood's base with the help of his Kanohi Kualsi, and discovers four short, Rahkshi-faced creatures in a prison. Norik and Iruini are shocked to discover that these are really the Toa Hagah, mutated beyond recognition by Roodaka, who appears, blasting the creatures, and dubs them Rahaga. Norik catches Roodaka off guard as Iruini opens the prison. He tells the Rahaga to run, and Norik and Iruini combine their powers to create a tornado of lava, distracting the Visorak just like the two did to the Frostelus. Unfortunately, their twister can not stop Roodaka's two Rhotuka, which strike both Toa as they run to join their comrades, mutating them into the same forms that their brothers and sister had taken. Roodaka tells the Visorak to leave them, believing them to be no threat. However, the six Rahaga manage to escape with the Mask of Light.
