Hey, how can we have contests fir BIONICLE canon stuff? Did you talk to Greg? @_@ Kraahlix
I agree with Kraahlix, will the contests really become canon? Just curious. -Junic

We will definitely be talking with Greg and receiving his approval first before we host them. :) Bioran ☺(Talk) (Userboxes) (Designs)☺

Issue 1? I like! Though it doesn't contain much, it's sort of setting a premise for later. Just... for the bear ad, the text is really dodgily formatted. It's hard to read. --Turaga Dlakii 04:31, 6 August 2008 (PDT)

Bioran, you will not use ads again in the KanohiJournal. --~|ET|~ (Talk/Contribs) 09:42, 6 August 2008 (PDT)

I don't see why I cannot. The ads do not violate any BS01 policies, and you have already previously stated that you don't care about ads provided they aren't literally on the site. Plus, I believe when it comes to content, the KJ have the right to decide what should be on their mag, provided it does not violate BS01 policies. Bioran ☺(Talk) (Userboxes) (Designs)☺

I think you can't change masks, however, when I moved Tanma over the start button on the bottom left part of the screen, I got Photok's Mask. The Mix - The Sig - The Lab - The Stuff

You can't change masks. They change accordingly. Basically, if you hover over a button, it will change to Photok's mask, and if you hover over somewhere which originally would be a hand, it will switch to Tanma's mask. MOC Spotlight

If you're going to have an Art Spotlight, shouldn't you have a MOC spotlight too? ~Lih

That's included in what Tes and Aoran are doing. Bioran ☺(Talk) (Userboxes) (Designs)☺

Hagah Contest?

There's talk going around BZP about possibly doing a Build You Own Toa Hagah Contest (talk started by me :P ). Would that be too big or too unwanted to put in the KJ? Just throwing out an idea. The OoMN Chronicler, (Talk) 18:08, 12 August 2008 (PDT)

I'm afraid there won't be Hagah contest plans for the KJ at the moment. Personally, I think it's too far-fetched, unless it is an artwork contest. Bioran ☺(Talk) (Userboxes) (Designs)☺
Well, what would be wrong with an Artwork Contest then? I see MOCing to be pointless, but it would be cool if there was a contest either way. The OoMN Chronicler, (Talk) 18:46, 12 August 2008 (PDT)

Because we already have 3 scheduled contests. (Even 4 or 5, if we split the Mangai contest up) At the rate things are going, we may not be able to host the Hagah contest until the end of the year or next year even. Bioran ☺(Talk) (Userboxes) (Designs)☺

What are they? What are the details? PhantokaX (a.k.a. Toa Tokan) (Council Chamber/Heroic Deeds)

The Toa Mangai are Lhikan, Nidhiki, and Tuyet's old team that had eight other toa on it, four of whom were toa of Ice. We know one Toa out of the un-named eight had a Kakama, and besides them defending Metru Nui and defeating the Kanohi Dragon we don't know to terribly much about them.~Tomana~

Help

Is there any way I could help out with the KJ? Non-BS01 Image--Terakk (Talk/Contributions)

Arkhan's Accolades

Well. I must say, I'm impressed. Despite being a staff member (though I only found out when I checked it's page), I hadn't actually read the issue of KJ I was featured in. But yesterday I was browsing, and my was I impressed.

The random user highlight provided an interesting read, and Tesseract's only slightly interesting MOCing piece (No offense, I wasn't that hardcore a MOCcer) was made all the better for a Daft Punk theme.

Now, Adventurer's Takua article was an excellent read. I'm only vaguely aware that someone dipped Takanuva into a can of black paint, but his analysis of Lightbulb's character was fascinating. Mikerahk's Art of Kanohi brought back great memories of those original 2001 masks, and I'm glad he shares my hatred of the Inika. Sporecast was an interesting piece - it seems every fandom has really embraced that game.

The Bag of Goodies sounds like a great idea, though I wasn't sure how to open it... all I could see was the low res thumbnail. Again, while I love the idea of an original wallpaper each week, Aoran's Bionicle 01 was a bit... disappointing, after the page of hype prose.

Bioran's little post about the role of non-Bio stuff in the KJ was a good little read... his talk about apples less so, but I'll forgive him for that nice little blurb he wrote about me next to Ascent.

A few overall words. Firstly, congratulations to whoever designed the layout. It's one of the best designed PDF's I've seen. Unlike most it doesn't aim to just be an online version of a print article. And this is seen in more than just layout. I applaud the use of hyperlinks - direct clicking to subscribe to Sporecast, PostIt! and download the wallpaper all made the KJ a breeze to browse. The content ranged from interesting to strong, certainly better than what I expected.

Overall I highly recommend the KJ, even to fans like me who have fallen by the wayside in Bionicle (Mata Nui... when the heck did that happen?). I am truly honoured to be a part of such an excellent magazine, and look forward to the next article. Bravo to everyone who worked on it.

LL on KJ

To start, I gotta say, this was my least favorite yet. Even my article seemed boring and lousy, but that's probably cuz I already knew everything it said. Anyhoo, let's start at the beginning. The front cover... is... awesome. I really like the collage of '01 Toa Mata pics. It's the most creative cover yet.

"Howdy!":Congrats to me and ~SK~. You may notice I'm referred to as "LewaLew" through the whole thing, but you may call me Seanp12, LewaLew, SP12, LL, or something else like that. Thank goodness ~SK~ and I didn't suffer a brainwashing. We trainees are so lucky. XP That little blurb on the definition of "trainee" clears up what trainee actually means. In my case however, my uncle, a newspaper editor, will be giving me advice.

"Six Toa's Future": YOWZERS! It's BIONICLE's version of Back to the Future! This actually seemed rather dull, maybe because of the way it was written, maybe because all the theories were right (in a way), or perhaps both. I guess you really need to be brainwashed to appreciate these articles, but either way they were interesting. Also, I don't beleive that Adventurer, or any others of us Old School fans would have thought of these theories back then. Imagine what a genius Adventurer would be if he had thought of these all the way back then. Just like Planetperson is now for developing the "Mata Nui=MU" theory.

"A Tale of... Banishment": This is one of the best articles in this issue. I can also sympathize with Xander004, as I was once banned for having a dupe account here. In reality, I had missed the section in the policies where I was supposed to contact the staff before making an account for family members (In this case, my brother). Thankfully, my current boss, Bioran23, cleared the whole situation up. Now look where I've gotten. I'm a frequent editor of BS01 (When I don't have XBOX 360 games to play), and I'm the trainee writer for the LEGO Products department of KJ. Anyway, the article is very well written, and is a very interesting subject. It's not even a completely BIONICLE related article, which I have grown to like.

"Ascent, Part Two": To put it bluntly, I liked Part One better. ~LA's story continues to show that the protaganist, Garret, is extremely desperate to get a little cash, a little too desperate. He has gotten to the point where I no longer like this citizen of the undercity. However there are some story elements that I do like. For instance, we now know the name of his location, Colossa. Personally, I think ~LA could have been more creative about the name, but I can't think of something more fitting, can you? Moving onward, I must say that I don't like Durin. That is my only comment on him. In fact, the only character I still like is Tas. Lastly, "Mater" must be spelled that way on purpose, cuz if it's supposed to be "meter" then Javi didn't do a very good job, which I highly doubt.

"Silver Sets": My article. I have to say, it seems out of place and dull to me, but I don't know why. You may also notice that it does not cover my subject of non-BIONICLE LEGO. That's because my current department was decided after I sent the article, and is also why it's in the guest article color, blue.

"BIONICLE in South America": My favorite article in this issue. Kanohi Zatth hit some very interesting points. It must be very difficult, but good for him to keep going. We US of A fans appreciate what you've done for the BIONICLE fan universe. Keep persevering! (The same to you other South America fans!)

"Oh my Mata Nui...": My least favorite article of the issue. The subject is already worn out, I dislike the title, and then some. Compared to the other articles Danwojo913 has done, this was a bit of a letdown.

More later on this subject. I've got stuff to do.-Seanp12-KanohiJournal Trainee (My Page|Talk|Contributions)

The problem was that most of the staff were in a sort of "holiday spirit", so there was this sense of "rushing" in the articles. Also, the retrograde didn't work so well as I had thought, but hey, we're still learning. ^^
Thanks for the criticism, regardless. We'll take it into account. =) Bioran ☺(Talk) (Designs) (UP Designs) (KanohiJournal) ☺
(Just FYI, I don't come up with the titles. :P ) -Danwojo913 is around

LL on KJ (cont.)

"MOC Spotlight #3": My favorite staff article. White Glint and its builder, Silver~Dragon, are quite deserving of this honor. Every inch of the model is impressive, and is something I would pay for. To me, it looks like a souped-up Toa Metru with a new, improved, and white edition of the Karzahni set's head. As for the article itself, it's very well written, as if Wil would do anything less. Another interesting point is that he made it with help from ~Shadow Kurahk~. Good job, ~SK~! Any how, I also like the last paragraph on Silver~Dragon's MOCing career, as well as the hyperlinks leading to the BZP topic.

"Swing Lewa, Swing~": This article is awesome. It's my favorite retro article, due to the facts that it’s well written, has an interesting subject, and is just plain cool.

“Random User Spotlight #4”: This was my least favorite RU Spotlight yet. Probably because that only 1 out of 2 bazillion BZP users don’t know who Black Six is. Okay, so it’s an exaggeration, but really who doesn’t know everything about Black Six? However, part of it could be my fault for reading through his profile completely. Despite that it has very little new info on Black Six, it ‘’is’’ quite well written. Phyoorii does good work. Even this article is ranked way up there for me.

“Walk Across the Sandy Beaches”: This Biomedia article was quite interesting. As usual, Triggy really trigged it for this article. The only part I don’t like is his discussion of how many matoran/tohunga he owned. Overall, Triggy’s new article is great.

“The Grand Plan of Evil”: This was my least favorite guest article. Like “Oh my Mata Nui…”, the subject is worn out, but in addition, I don’t like the style in which it was written. I especially don’t like the closing line (I guess it‘s because I don‘t like articles ending in a capitalized sentence, but that‘s just me). However, with a little more practice, Turagapohatunuva may have an article I enjoy more.

“Art Spotlight #1”: My fellow trainee’s article. Sorry ~SK~, I don’t like it very much. It seems to me that the article is one big compliment to Nikira, and despite it is a compliment well deserved, I would enjoy it more if it told me what points of the piece ‘’you’’ liked, rather than what the BZP members thought. Of course, it could just be because I have never been fond of mangai, manga, or whatever you call it (I was not disappointed at all when Exo-Force died off). No offense is intended however, ~SK~. If you could give me any friendly criticism about my article, it would be quite helpful. After all, we n00b trainees have to stick together. :P

“And so, 2008 comes to an end…”: Another one of my favorite articles of this issue, it really reminds us of every thing that happened in 2008, going from the coming of the Phantoka, to the Beijing Olympics, all the way to the beginnings of the most successful BIONICLE fan magazine in BZP and BS01 history. What’s better, it also looks toward the future of 2009, which will contain more KanohiJournals, the Glatorian, a new BIONICLE movie, and hopefully, a Chicago Cubs world series! (There’s always this year! :D)

“We’re Expanding!”: It’s true, we’re still expanding. Since this really isn’t an article, I won’t discuss it, but its subject instead. “There’s always room for improvement,” says the old cliché, and it’s true. Guest articles, guest comics, guest goodies, and new trainees are all welcome. If you’re a little worried at the thought of having a dedication to this magazine, it’s not difficult at all. Of course, that depends on your talents. If you’re a great designer, then perhaps you could become the official goodie-maker for the Booklet of Goodies. If you have a knack for writing, find an open department and give us a hand. Also, if you’re a n00b on this staff, like ~Shadow Kurahk~ and I, you’re only different from the rest of the staff in that you’re being watched. O_O And also, if you’re a comic maker, ‘’’send us your comics!!!’’’ We could most certainly use them. Lastly, if you’re planning on writing an article, my uncle, a newspaper editor says you should use an outline, putting your points in order of importance.

Aha! I put this at the end of my review, so the placement of the BoG will remain unrevealed! Anyway, once again we find ourselves waiting on “The Fifth Dimension Comics”, which is why you should send us your guest comics!!! The side note on the color coding of KJ is helpful too.

“Wikipedia, BS01 Style”: Unfortunately, I do not use Mozzila Firefox, so this was of no use to me, however, it is a very interesting concept.

“Christmas Icons Pack”: This is relatively useless for me too, because I can’t figure out how to get them to work. Besides, Christmas and the year of 2008 Anno Domini is over, so I don’t see any reason to put them on. Remember to send us your guest goodies too, so Bioran can give Aoran, Wil, and himself a break.
