Spoilers For Newly Released Information
As a general rule of thumb, do not post spoilers about new books, comics, or sets until we (The Staff) say it is all clear to do so. We have specific policies for such things (see the three policies below) but sometimes we may make amends to fit the circumstances at hand. If you see a spoiler about a just-released document (and isn't allowed) please just remove it. You can view the history at your own risk. When we say it's okay to post them, you can pull the information back up from the history.
Usually when the staff/rules dictation first allow spoilers, they have to be in white on white (as shown below). Please make use of it. This policy should dictate when the spoiler template and white on white are no longer needed.
Spoilers Policy for Books
The new policy works as follows. If a book is first sighted and owned by several people (not restricted to a single ownership) on January 1st, then spoilers are allowed on February 1st. If a similar situation happens on February 1st, they are allowed on March 1st. If it is spotted on December 9th, they are allowed on January 9th. The point is, the same day in the next month is when they are allowed (in white on white). That way, we don't have to discuss "It's 31 days," "It's 30 days," and "it's 28 days."
Spoiler Policy for Young Readers
For the release of young readers such as The Journey of Takanuva, spoilers will be allowed 15 days after the initial release.
Spoiler Policy for Comics
Once a comic has been released (first sighted) spoilers will be immediately allowed to be posted in the form of white-on-white unless otherwise stated. The fields can be removed 2 weeks after sighting.
Spoiler Policy for Sets
Don't post any set spoilers until we get an official okay from LEGO or LEGO themselves releases official set information. Any leaked information, which can be leaked from sites like Amazon.de, should not be posted.
Spoilers in General
- Spoilers on this wiki are notified with the template {{Spoiler}} seen directly below.
| Spoiler Warning: Plot or ending details follow. (Please highlight the white space below if applicable) |
While this is our way of telling people that spoilers are near. But lately, some spoilers have been getting out of hand. And it's not the spoilers themselves, it's the template. In this policy, it will be explained as to when use this spoiler, when to take it off, etc.
Any new spoiler that has just been released should be given at least a spoiler warning. If it is something major, it should be whited out.
{{spoiler}}
{{WoW|text=SPOILERS HERE. {{wht|PUT LINKS LIKE THIS}} or {{wht2|article name|THIS}}.}}
Use that format for major spoilers that are fairly new. Use good judgment on these too. If you think it should be whited out, go for it.
When Something is no Longer a Spoiler
When a spoiler becomes old news and its spoiler template should be taken off can be argued. Thus, with this policy, we can just set a standard time and that will be that.
For Books
As the policy states, you must wait one month after the first release of the book to post spoilers as white-on-white. After that, wait one more month to remove the white text, but retain the spoiler tag. So if a book comes out on April 19, and spoilers are allowed on May 19, then the white can be removed on June 19. Spoiler tags can be removed two weeks after the white-on-white text.
For Comics
After the first release of the comic, spoilers must be kept tagged with a spoiler template and white-on-white for two weeks. After the two week period has passed, the white-on-white can be removed. Two weeks after that, the spoiler tag can be removed as well. So, if a comic is released on May 1st, then spoilers must be white-on-white until May 15th. On May 29th, the spoiler tag itself can be removed.

Leaked Pictures
Many of you know that in the fall of 2005, pictures were leaked out and they appeared everywhere. On BZP posts, on this Wiki, and even in other forums. This made LEGO very mad with all of us (Although we are just the victims...who had to leak the pictures?) and has even threatened to order Greg to stop visiting these BIONICLE fan forums. Now not only is this bad, but simply knowing the fact that we have these pictures too early is bad. It ruins the suspense LEGO wants to create, and it's an anti-climatic for us. Thus said, if you ever see any leaked pictures, please do not upload them. Wait until Greg says that it's okay or when official pictures come along. There really is no reason at all to post spoiler pictures 4 months before the official pictures actually come out; we have more than enough things on this Wiki already that should be made better.
