Hello to you, presumably some form of wiki administrator :). This page designated for wiki suggestions apparently did not exist until I remade the page to suggest a couple items. As you diligently work to recreate the BS01 Wiki, perhaps you could establish a past-tense articling policy for the sake of better clarity in all the Bionicle storyline pages. The Nuparu page, for example, relates his time as a Matoran in present tense, although he is now a Toa twice transformed in current story. I believe even topics on current story should be treated as past events as well, just because no one will need to re-edit the tense periodically and because the whole mythos might read better if it were treated as if it were some ancient text left behind from an external, unbiased observer.

Another thing you might consider is not to change the tab names to novel Bionicle terms. It was always cute, but it was also always difficult to predict exactly where one tab or tool would take someone by trying to decipher a vague name like "golden kanohi."

Thanks a lot for reading :).

Right, for your first one, the tenses are like that because anybody can edit these pages. We have no real control over the tenses used on the whole wiki. But past-tense is usually what we prefer, since by the time we add the info about something that has just happened, well, it's already happened. :P But a whole policy on it would not be needed, because most members get the idea anyway. And past-tense is very hard to use on some things, like future or current events, because we usually have so little info that past-tense sounds quite bad when used there (and it's not really proper anyway ;)). And about the editing thing; we around here live to edit. It's what we do, and we have no problem going back and changing tenses once in a while. :) Now about your second proposal, that would be nice, but what else would we call them? What we have is what we've been given. Trust me, if Golden Kanohi had an actual Matoran name, we'd have moved the page in an instant. But, like I said, we have to work with what we're given (or not given) by official sources. But personally, I never found it difficult anyway. ;) -- Non-BS01 Image Gravitan(Talk | Contribs) 07:01, 5 August 2007 (CDT)
I think you misunderstood my second idea; it has nothing to do with article titles. I am referring to the items in the toolbox and the tabs at the top of each page. The edit tab used to read "carve." "Special pages" in the toolbox used to read "golden kanohi." Now that the site is being redone, they have reverted to their default titles. Im saying we should keep it that way, because I remember looking for a page edit selection and not being able to find it when I was new and getting used to the BS01 Wiki controls.

-- Planetperson 13:00, 5 August 2007 (CDT)

Oh, sorry about that. XD But that's just how it's done around here. We don't want to look like we've modeled ourselves entirely off of Wikipedia. The titles of those are just a way to make us sound more like a BIONICLE site. In addition, it's really not all that hard to figure out what stuff does. If a new member is truly clueless as to what something does, he's welcome to click on it and find out. (But I do agree with you about the Golden Kanohi thing. That one was a little confusing. :P)) -- Non-BS01 Image Gravitan(Talk | Contribs) 14:16, 5 August 2007 (CDT)

So, are we gonna start usin' that for all of the pages? I'm just wonderin'. 'Cause it sort of bugs me. --~|ET|~ (Talk/Contribs) 08:04, 5 August 2007 (CDT)

Fanart suggestion

Over at Halopedia they have something called the FanArt Committee, members can submit fanart for what they think characters look like, based on descriptions. The staff votes on each picture submitted and deems it worthy or unworthy of being allowed on articles. The only catch is that the situation, if any, has to be canon, so you can't draw Mavrah fighting Toa Nuparu. It also has to include all descriptions given, so if a character is said to have a golden Akaku, you can't draw him with any other mask.

Now obviously we can't do this with all the characters, such as Mata Nui.

Just think about it. Slizer Prime 09:38, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

Methinks 'tis a good idea. --Exo Malakai (Talk/Contributions)

Final answer: No. We are a 100% official content wiki. --~|ET|~ (Talk/Contribs) 09:44, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

Okie boss.... --Exo Malakai (Talk/Contributions)

To add to this, it's a nice idea, but think about the logistics involvled with that. Pics have to be drawn, uploaded, uploaded again, sent to the staff, voted on, and put in articles. Plus that would require a whole lot of work by the staff (most of whom have not even shown up yet XD). And we're a strictly canonical site, rendering all of the above pointless for me to type. :P -- Gravitan(Talk | Contribs) 09:46, 6 August 2007 (CDT)

I don't think it makes sense to have unofficial content in an official-content site. The Lord of the Masks 13:18, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

A NOTE TO STAFF

Please mark edits as patrolled if you check them! I can't tell if edits were checked or not if that little red exclamation mark is there. And I know some of you are on and checking but not doing that. --~|ET|~ (Talk/Contribs) 18:52, 12 August 2007 (CDT)

Maybe user's should be able to post there short story's in their user space, just a thought. --Katani the joker (Talk/Contributions). 01:15, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

That's what BZP is for. -- Cheers,Gravitan(Talk | Contribs) 06:44, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

Complaint about the new Search system

I find the new search system very inconvient and useless. :( Bioran23 - "Stop warming the poles! Me want to live!" =>Non-BS01 Image(Quick-Speak)

We had to change the search feature to an external search becuase the internal search was draining to much of the server. -- Kopaka's Apprentice (Quick-Speak / Toa Sectra) 20:01, 26 August 2007 (CDT)

And I've found a valid problem with it. You can't search for specific pages - and that is a PAIN. You can't look up any user or talk (all talk pages) pages, and for pages it can find (articles, basically), they don't even come up! I searched "Keetongu," and the Keetongu article wasn't even listed! Seriously, it needs removed. --~|ET|~ (Talk/Contribs) 20:36, 26 August 2007 (CDT)

Is it possible to use a better search? It makes creating pages a pain in the back. v_v Bioran23 - "Stop warming the poles! Me want to live!" =>Non-BS01 Image(Quick-Speak)

Swert said earlier that it only finds main articles. I don't know why it's going all funky like this. Swert might know... -- Kopaka's Apprentice (Quick-Speak / Toa Sectra) 20:48, 26 August 2007 (CDT)

Source tag needs to be restored.

Could someone restore the source template in order to make it easier to cite sources? That way, people won't have to guess about whether or not information is valid, and have reliable sources to support the wiki's content. I wish I could create it myself, but I don't know how to do wiki-styling. The Lord of the Masks 13:12, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

Source template? I've got no idea what you're talking about. --~|ET|~ (Talk/Contribs) 14:39, 27 August 2007 (CDT)
If you're who I think you are, we've been over this. We don't cite sources here. And if I am correct, we never had a template like that anyway. -- Cheers,Gravitan(Talk | Contribs) 15:12, 27 August 2007 (CDT)
We do have a template like that, it was made by Swert, but was never used anyways. Bioran23 - "Stop warming the poles! Me want to live!" =>Non-BS01 Image(Quick-Speak)

There was once a source template, but it's gone now. It was located here: Template:Source

Unfortunately, the template was lost when the Wiki went down. I would appreciate if the template could be restored, as it would make this Wiki a credible encyclopedia (which is presumably what it is supposed to be) and not a random collection of information whose validity is unknown. As a general convention, an encyclopedia can't be considered credible if it has no reliable sources. A wiki without sources is like a news report based on an event that may or may not have happened. The Lord of the Masks 19:49, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

Yeah. Stop stating all that wikipedia crap. We check our sources, and know that they're true. That's good enough. We don't need to be - NOR WILL WE EVER - become like that heckhole that is Wikipedia. Like I said, we know if statements are true. Simple as that. Case closed, do not press this further. --~|ET|~ (Talk/Contribs) 20:18, 27 August 2007 (CDT)

Quotes section

There should be quotes in every character's article, just like in the times before the Wiki went down. There also should be a 'Quote of the day' article (see Wookieepedia for instance)Texasbivol 09:16, 21 October 2007 (PDT)

I believe we like your first idea. Quotes for each character is nice. Erebus (TALK | CVU | NT)

Word Filetr?

Is it possible to have a word filter to block swear words? --bionicle_fan_nuva

I asked that too, and they said no. However, seeing that when you type ~~~~ Your sig is dispayed, it MIGHT be possible to filter thins the same way. Only thing is that words can easly be bypassed by using <nowiki> tags. Cholie™, The One and Only™ (Blab|Contribs) 07:45, 26 October 2007 (PDT)

Colouration

There is an abundance of inconsistent colouration descriptions in several articles, especially those of MNOGII Matoran, and some even within the same article (ie Kongu's mask being referred to as both Teal and Turquoise in his article). For the purposes of making the entire Wiki more consistent, I suggest that BS01 establish a set-based colour guide to provide greater specificity in its descriptions. I would suggest using the colour descriptions provided by Lego themselves, but even if we agree to our own descriptions, even that would be better than the inconsistency that is currently present in many of the articles. Thanks! - The Trigger

Great Job!

I'm sorry if this is against the rules to comment on a help section, but i would like to thank the staff and everyone else for the awesome job and work they have put into this. I am a new member but i have been vistiting BS01 a lot for info, so on. So thank you for all your hard work. It makes my life alot easier!-ArchiveDude
