BIONICLE, known to the fanbase by its working title BIONICLE: The Game, was the first BIONICLE game to be released on a console. It was released on the PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, PC, Gameboy Advance and later Macintosh. It aimed to cover the entire BIONICLE story from 2001 up to 2003. However, time restraints, among other things, saw that the game was released only half-finished. It doesn't follow the official storyline particularly well, with many errors.

Plot

The Toa Nuva transformed.

After the defeat of Teridax, the island of Mata Nui is at peace. Turaga Vakama and Matau, along with some Le-Matoran, put on a small performance for the Toa. However, as soon as the presentation is over, Takua rushes in, saying that he is being chased by something. The Toa prepare for combat, and find themselves fighting Nui-Kopen and Tahnok. After defeating the threat, Gali decides that the Toa should split up and return to their Wahi to defeat Teridax once and for all.

Upon returning to Ta-Wahi, Tahu finds out from Vakama that the Ta-Matoran have fled from the Bohrok. For some reason, some Le-Matoran are trapped, and Tahu frees them. After fighting a swarm of Bohrok, Tahu claims one of their Krana, and believes that they are the way to defeat the Bohrok. Then Takua turns up, saying he has found an unusual Kanohi mask. Tahu heads to Ko-Wahi to tell Kopaka about the Krana. Kopaka tells Tahu that he is chasing a Bohrok headed for Ko-Kini. Arriving at the Kini, Nuju tells him that another Bohrok is headed for Ko-Koro, endangering many Matoran. Kopaka is able to defeat the Bohrok before it reaches the village and he claims the Bohrok's Krana. Somehow, the power of Krana transforms the Toa into Toa Nuva.

In Ga-Wahi, Gali Nuva meets with Nokama, who tells her that the Bohrok-Kal have appeared and have begun terrorizing the villagers. After saving some Ga-Matoran, they construct a whale Rahi for Gali which allows her to go to the Bohrok-Kal's lair. She defeats the Bohrok-Kal single-handedly, and Takua shows up. He tells her that strange creatures have been seen headed towards Onu-Wahi. Gali travels to Po-Wahi, where she meets Pohatu Nuva. Gali tells him about the danger, and then goes to Le-Wahi to find Lewa. Pohatu begins his journey to Onu-Wahi, but he falls through a hole in the ground where he ends up meeting a Po-Matoran. They jump in a mine cart and flick on several switches, opening a door to Onu-Wahi. Pohatu tells Onua Nuva about the creatures, just as Lerahk appears. Onua chases the creature to its lair, where it is defeated.

In Le-Wahi, Gali tells Lewa about the creatures, but Lewa already knows about the Rahkshi from the drums of Le-Koro. After rescuing some of his villagers to activate Le-Suva, Lewa tracks down the Rahkshi Panrahk to a river, where it is defeated. Lewa claims its Kraata and celebrates. In Ta-Wahi, Takua is telling Tahu Nuva about the mask he found. He explains that Turaga told him it was the Mask of Light, and now he must begin a search for the Seventh Toa. However, he has lost the mask to Kurahk, and it is now headed to destroy Ta-Koro. Tahu jumps on his Magma Swords and chases the Kurahk. It drops the mask, which attaches itself to Takua, transforming him into Takanuva. Takanuva warps to Teridax's lair, and defeats him. Takanuva places his mask onto Teridax, and they merge into Takutanuva. The huge being barges through the door to what is presumably Metru Nui, and the island is once again safe.
